Winter Hiking Trail Pizol Panorama Höhenweg

The chairlift leads up to 2,222 metres. Arrived at Laufböden, the winter hikers enjoy a mountain panorama of a special kind: the view reaches from the striking Churfirsten at Walensee over the Rhine Valley to Lake Constance; Grisons and Glarus Alps.

The circular rout leads between Laufböden and Pizol hut to the plateau, which is forming a natural platform. Behind the Glarus thrust is located, which has been included into the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here it is clearly visible, how the rock strata have been ridging and folding during the formation of the Alps. A chairlift leads back to Pardiel.

The way leads without significant inclines through the barren landscape far beyond the timber line. Past frozen mountain lakes the Pizol hut is reached, which is offering to linger for a while on the sun terrace, before the way back is started.

From the valley station of the Pizolbahnen in Bad Ragaz, the gondola lift and the chairlift take you up to Laufböden at 2,222 m above sea level.M. There we start the leisurely hike directly at the mountain station. On the lower part of the circular hiking trail it goes in the direction of Pizolhütte. Almost there, the Wangsersee appears on the right side. We walk past the lake and reach the hut after about 10 minutes, which invites you to linger with a variety of offers. Back it goes again past the Wangsersee and on a slight ascent to the viewpoint Tagweidlichopf at 2'275 m above sea level.M. This is where all the beauty of the all-round view unfolds. Through the photo stele of the Grand Tour of Switzerland you can even see the Pizol summit from here. The Station Laufböden always in view, it goes behind the viewpoint over a romantic plateau with a view of the Grisons mountains back to the starting point.
