Popular hike from village to village, with opportunities to stop. T1
Details
Description
The wide hiking trail between Sedrun and Disentis, or vice versa, is popular with casual walkers, joggers, and Nordic walkers. Along the way, there are repeated places to sit, and those who don’t want to walk the entire distance can shorten the route at three different stops to return to the starting point with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn.
We start hiking at Sedrun train station, sometimes below, then again above the railway line. Over an impressive viaduct, we reach Bugnei. Passing an old village fountain, we make a small detour through this district via the Via Romana. We continue walking on the sunny and mostly wind-sheltered side of the valley to Mompé Tujetsch, where the valley opens and we can see towards Disentis and the Flimserstein.
In Segnas we sit down at the Ustria Cresta on the sunny terrace and enjoy a refreshment. While wandering through Segnas, we take some time to admire the old, very well-kept Walser houses and gardens. Via Cuoz, we reach less-traveled streets and paths leading to Disentis train station.
Hidden Gem
In Mompé Tujetsch there is a public toilet and a place to sit for a picnic.
Safety Note
Fairtrail: Hikers share the trail with mountain bikers.
Directions
From Sedrun train station, we follow the markings of the Senda Sursilvana, the long-distance path No. 85, which is continuously marked up to Disentis.
