Details
Description
We start the route at the monastery parking lot and first briefly visit the baroque monastery church. After passing the imposing monastery building, we stroll over the Via da Paders, later on neighborhood paths to Sontga Catrina. Much has changed here in recent years. The new Catrina Resort offers everything one could wish for a sporty or relaxing holiday. Having reached Acletta, we briefly sit down on the forecourt of the Marienkapelle and enjoy the viewof the mountain range of the Piz Medel. In Segnas, we stroll through the village center with well-maintained Walser houses, neat gardens, and arcades and secure a seat on the sunny terrace in the Ustria Cresta, at the lower edge of the village, and let the time pass by with a coffee. The way back goes only downhill, over Buretsch, Cuoz, and Acla da Fontauna, until we are back at our starting point.
Hidden Gem
Anyone who wants can return from Segnas to the starting point by train.
Directions
From the Disentis Monastery, we follow the Via dils Paders to Sontga Catrina and to the valley station of the mountain railways. On a low-traffic road, we reach Acletta. After the chapel, we keep left, passing the Hotel Piz Ault. The road leads into a field path. Before the stream, we turn right. At the next fork, we keep left again, cross the Segnas stream, and thus arrive in the village of Segnas. At the southern end of the village, we first turn left and then immediately right at the old schoolhouse. The road leads down to Buretsch, where a natural road branches off to the left. We follow this through a small valley to the houses of Cuoz. Past the chapel, it goes past the houses to the cantonal road. We follow this to the left to the sports center. After the sports center, by the stream, we find the turnoff along the stream down into the village, to the wool mill. Now we follow the neighborhood road past the village church. The last 500 meters of the route must be covered on the main road.
