Schloss Rietberg im Herbst
A thriller, as only history can write it!

Description

In 1621 at Schloss Rietberg near Pratval, freedom hero Jörg Jenatsch, from Graubünden, murdered his adversary Pompey Planta, governor of the Spanish-Austrian faction. This most spectacular act during this turmoil in Graubünden was written down by Conrad Ferdinand Meyer in the novella Jürg Jenatsch. Today, Schloss Rietberg is owned by several families, all descendants of Rudolf Planta-Casparis. As a co-owners of Rietberg, the Hämmerle-Caviezel family operates a biologically oriented farm with suckler cows and corn and fruit cultivation in addition to its castle. In earlier times, the Russian tsars were given apples as a form of gifs, individually packed in boxes padded with wood wool.

Opening hours

Rietberg Castle is privately owned. It is not open to the public.
