Chapfensee

Above Mels lies the idyllic lake Chapfen at 1,030 m above sea level and is a popular destination for hikers, bikers, families and fishermen. Lake Chapfen is also popular with fishermen, as it offers a good stock of rainbow trout. The lake is easily accessible by car, by bike or on foot. A path leads around the lake. Here you can also find several fireplaces with wood supplies.

Lake Chapfen is actually a reservoir, but hardly recognizable as such. It is beautifully embedded in a protected nature reserve. On a hike around the lake, one discovers not only the worthwhile viewpoint at Chapfenstein with a view of the valley of Seez but also an original moor landscape.
