The glacier was able to remove the soft flysch rocks in the area of the upper Segnesboden more easily than the limestone rocks south of today's plain.

A natural hollow was created, which filled with rock debris after the melting of the Segnes Glacier.

The glacial stream distributed this rock debris evenly over the entire plain. At the end of the plain, the stream tied a path through the limestone rocks, creating a deep gorge.
