The Alpkapelle is located above Trun. The chapel opens in spring and remains open until the end of October.

Description

The Catholic Alpine Chapel of St. Brigida (Caplutta d'Alp da Sontga Brida) is located south of Trun on the alpine pastures of the "Cuolms da Nadels" at 1938 m above sea level.M. It can be reached from Trun or from Zignau (Ringgenberg) on foot in a 4 - 5 hour hike.
The alpine chapel was built in 1734. In the summer of 1734, Father Ursicin Genal consecrated the chapel in honor of St. Brigida, patroness of cattle. In 1736 the chapel received a bell with the inscription: HEILIGE BRIGITTA BITT FÜR UNS ANNO 1736 - ANTON KEISER IN ZUG GOSS MICH - ST. JOHANNES - JAKOB JACUMET".

In earlier years, supplication processions took place on foot from Trun or Zignau to Nadels. The dates and participants are noted on plaques hanging in the chapel: 1853 with Father Benedetg Rensch from Zignau with 30 people; 1872 Sur Giachen Giusep Maissen from Trun with 63 people; 1925 Chaplain Florin Flury von Trun and 1934 Chaplain Placi Castelberg from Zignau.
In 1936 a renovation took place and in 1949 the rüetschi company in Aarau cast a new bell. The bell was consecrated on 24 July 1949 by Father Sialm. In 1970 the chapel received a new tin roof and in 1981 the altar was rebuilt. In 1982 it was renovated and on 5 September 1982 the sanctuary was consecrated by the parish priests Cathomas and Casanova. In summer, when the Alps are invaded, worship is held in Sontga Brida once a year.
The south-facing choir is slightly retracted, closed on three sides and raised by one step. It is vaulted with an adapted barrel ceiling.

The altar has an antependium with leaf and gold decoration around the middle part, in which the patroness Sontga Brida is depicted as a religious as a plastic figure. On the altarpiece closed semi-circular at the top we see in the middle the Sontga Brida with the Child Jesus, in the foreground the three saints mentioned in the supplication. At the height of the Predella, outside the altar, there are the statuettes of St. Brigida with Bible and staff as patroness of cattle (left) and S. Wendelin with staff and a lamb on the armpit as a field and cattle protection saint (right).

The ship (L 4.00 m, br. 3.55 m) has a barrel ceiling with an empty stucco medallion. Above the door you will find the dates of the renovations: 1936 and 1982. On the walls, in memory of the earlier pilgrimages, hang the framed panels with the names of the participants. Noteworthy is the large mural by Gion Giachen Ruegg de Sumvitg 1718 (Johann Jakob Riegg). It shows the chapel patroness in religious costume, a man kneeling on the left and a scroll in the middle. The gable roof with a new tin roof carries the bell beam above the entrance. As a special feature, the bell is rung from the outside with a hand pull.
