The church of Pleif is the oldest church in the valley. The church of St. Vincent was for centuries the main church of the valley, where the dead from Vals to Vrin were laid to rest in the cemetery.

For centuries, the church of St. Vincent was the main church in the valley, where the dead from Vals to Vrin were laid to rest in the cemetery. It served as a family burial place for the native de Mont family. Their large grave slabs are located on the northern outer wall of the church.

Inside, the monumental image (four by nine meters!) of the Battle of Lepanto attracts attention. It commemorates the help of the Virgin Mary in the victory of the Christian army over the Turks in 1571. In the lower left corner you can see the three leaders of the Holy League: in the middle, Pope Pius V, flanked by the Spanish King Philip II and Sebastiano Venier, the Doge of Venice.

The inaccessible choir area with the two side altars offers a magnificent sight. Johannes Ritz from Selkingen in Goms created the two-storey high altar in 1726, where a green cartouche with the text S. Vincenti ora pro nobis – 1726 refers to the patron saint of the church, whose statue is located above it.

A Renaissance altar by Hans Jakob Greutter on the north wall depicts the Queen of the Rosary surrounded by 15 medallions with the secrets of the Rosary. On the left wing of the altar there is a depiction of the Death and Assumption, on the right wing a depiction of Christmas.

Literature: Church Guide (Pedo Verlag) is available in the church.
