Description
At 12.5 meters high, the Murgbach waterfall may not be the tallest of its kind—but its appearance is all the more remarkable. The red Verrucano rock and the lush green vegetation surrounding it give the Murgbach waterfall an almost exotic charm. Adding to the atmosphere is the largest chestnut forest north of the Alps, in which the waterfall is located. The Murg waterfall can be reached from the village square in Murg via a well-marked hiking trail known as the Chestnut Path in about 30 minutes. For water enthusiasts, a more direct route leads from the Murgbach Gorge, just a few minutes from the Murg train station, where glacial potholes can also be admired.
