Pfarrkirche St. Philippus und St. Jakobus

The parish church of St. Philippus and St. Jakobus in Valens, first mentioned in 1327, was last renovated in 2013 after several fires and restorations. It offers a historical backdrop amidst the mountain landscape.
Description
The mountain chapel in Valens was first mentioned as a place of worship in 1327. In 1755, during a severe foehn storm, the church, along with houses and barns in the mountain village, burned down. The church was rebuilt and repeatedly restored over the years. On October 31, 2012, the church roof caught fire again during moderately strong foehn winds. The roof was replaced, and the interior—primarily damaged by water and smoke—was renovated. Since October 2013, the mountain church of Valens has once again shone in new splendor.
