The Sardona Glacier is located on the St. Gallen side of Piz Sardona and flows into the Walsertal Calfeisen. In addition to the Sardona Glacier, the Chli Glacier is also clearly visible. A famous legend surrounds the glacier.

Description

Piz Sardona, also known more rarely as Surenstock, is a 3,056-meter-high mountain located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Glarus and St. Gallen. On the St. Gallen side lies the Sardona Glacier, which flows into the Walser valley of Calfeisen, and from there into the Tamina Valley. In addition to the Sardona Glacier, the Chli Glacier is also clearly visible. A well-known legend surrounds the Sardona Glacier. It is said that a once-beautiful alpine pasture was covered with thick glacier ice as punishment for the sinful behavior of a herdsman who betrayed his own mother.
