Wangs

Wangs enjoys a particularly advantageous location. To the north, the municipality touches the A4/A13 Sargans motorway junction, to the west the largest municipality in the canton in terms of area, namely Mels, and to the east the world health resort of Bad Ragaz. To the south, the well-known skiing and hiking destination wangs-Pizol is located on its own municipal territory, and to the east, the wine-growing community of Fläsch borders on Wangs. A unique landscape with meadows and arable land, pastures, forests and alps offers a diverse landscape of meadows. The villages of Vilters and Wangs stand on debris cones and owe their location to their village streams. The unique river landscape of Rheinau with the nearby rivers, floodplains and forests is an important local recreation area. Another highlight in  Wangs is the Pastor Künzle Weg. Here, visitors follow in the footsteps of Pastor Johannes Künzle. The rustic, uncomplicated priest and herbalist lived in Wangs from 1909 to 1920 and received honorary citizenship in 1912. The trail can be visited individually. In addition, guided tours are also offered on a regular basis, where you can join. This easy themed circular hike at the foot of the Pizol offers something for everyone.  Informative herb and biography panels, wooden sculptures, as well as two original Künzle grottoes can be found on the way from Wangs to Vilters and back.
