Gonzen Mine

A very special mine tour! It lasts two days and the focus is on the mine of the years 1920 - 1953, namely the Nausgrube, which experienced its heyday with the surface center consisting of two miners' houses, compressor station, workshops and cable car mountain station.

We gather for the start on Saturday morning in the tunnel station Vild and drive with the Gonzen-Express through the base tunnel in the Gonzen. Accompanied by experienced gonzen guides, we roam through the "modern mining" of iron ore back to the thirties and reach the center of the Nausgrube (1000 m above sea level) in the evening. We eat and spend the night in a well-developed rock complex. The next day we continue to climb up to the historical ore mining of our ancestors. The descent leads us in good weather through the Gonzenwald, over the Erzweg, past the Erzbild back into the valley. Around 17.00 o'clock we will reach our starting point in the Vild again.

The 2-day tour is a strict mountain tour in the mine, of about 900 m altitude difference, on partly bad drives / paths and many dilapidated stairs. Therefore, a very good condition and a good surefootedness is required. The temperature is between 8 and 13°C, the humidity is 90 - 95%. Good equipment with good mountain boots (no light hiking boots) is important, flashlight, gardening gloves and poles are recommended. You will receive helmet and stud lamp. In a small backpack you take your snacks, drinks, spare clothes, etc. with you on the go.
