Animal Farm - The Rebellion of the Animals A chilling tale with music freely adapted from a novel by George Orwellwith Gian Rupf and Volker RanischDirected by Klaus Hemmerle Animals to power - and the world will become a better place! In the “Fairyland Rheintal”, there is a farm, a homestead. Animals have taken over the reins. Freed from humans, they set the tone and finally, true life begins. In times when mankind is set on destroying the earth, such a social revolution, as envisioned by Orwell, would be a comforting utopia: animals take life’s matters into their own hands, or rather paws and claws. Society reorganizes itself - without capital, surplus value, or money. Everyone is equal. Ranisch and Rupf enter the ring of many animal figures and demonstrate exemplarily how a new “together” emerges, where everything seems fine for everyone; for some, of course, a bit better, which not everyone knows. Orwell's novel carries the deliberately trivializing subtitle "A Fairy Tale." Yet fairy tales are not always pretty. They can also be brutal: wolves eat grandmothers, stepmothers murder daughters, witches end up in the oven. And what initially presents itself as a harmless children's story in Orwell's work turns out to be a hard-hitting, satirical indictment of totalitarian regimes. For as soon as everyone is equal, some become more equal, and the clever pigs establish their dominance into a dictatorship…Gian Rupf, actor & Volker Ranisch, actor In case of bad weather, the theater will take place in the backstage area of Kursaal Arosa.
