Cinema: "Hallo Betty" in Ilanz

The year is 1956. Advertising copywriter Emmi Creola is supposed to market the products of an edible oil company and invents the fictional character Betty Bossi against the resistance of her agency. The "cook and housewife of the nation" soon became popular and received a lot of fan mail. Many people believe that Mrs. Bossi actually exists. Emmi, who has been rather reserved until now, unexpectedly finds herself in the public spotlight. The new celebrity life as a Swiss cooking icon is exciting, but also exhausting. Emmi fights against the envy and resentment of her male colleagues in the agency and tries to continue to be a loving mother and wife at home - following the example of her fictional character. With fine humour, the new film by Pierre Monnard ("Platzspitzbaby") paints a colourful portrait of the manners of that time.
