Cinema: «Hamnet» in Ilanz

With "Hamnet", Oscar winner Chloé Zhao ("Nomadland") returns to the big screen. In the film adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Maggie O'Farrell, who also wrote the screenplay together with Zhao, the story of William Shakespeare's family is told. From the point of view of his sensitive wife Agnes, we experience how she falls in love with the great bard and the two plan a life together. When her only son Hamnet dies from the plague at the age of eleven, her great love threatens to suffocate. In the midst of this terrible personal tragedy, Shakespeare, in deep despair and grief, begins to write "Hamlet", one of the greatest dramas in literary history.
