Cinema: "Miroirs No. 3" in Ilanz

Miraculously, piano student Laura survives a serious car accident during a trip to the Berlin countryside. Physically unharmed, but inwardly thrown off track, she finds shelter in the house of Betty, who has observed the accident. From the first moment, the two are connected by a deep affection. Laura enjoys Betty's maternal care, the visits to the workshop of her husband and son, the work in the garden. It is a carefree, happy time of being together, a late summer dream to which Laura and the family are only too happy to abandon themselves. But there is something that is not true, a dark pain that connects all four and yet remains unspoken...

In his new film, Christian Petzold tells a touching and intimate story of the fragility of life, the overcoming of despair, loss, pain and love. "Miroirs No. 3", named after a piano piece by Maurice Ravel, was premiered at the Festival de Cannes and is staged in its own comforting and masterful way. The film is carried above all by the magic of the warm, clear late summer images of cinematographer Hans Fromm and the sensitive acting of Paula Beer, Barbara Auer, Matthias Brandt and Enno Trebs.
