Cinema: "Trop Chaud" in Ilanz

The KlimaSeniorinnen are fighting on the front line. Instead of retiring, they want to do something about the increasingly frequent heat waves. They courageously take on their own country and sue the Swiss government at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for not protecting their health enough. A seemingly hopeless undertaking, which after eight years of struggle leads to a spectacular, globally respected verdict. On 9 April 2024, the ECtHR will rule that climate protection is a human right. A triumph for the Swiss climate seniors. But Switzerland is fouting the groundbreaking ruling.

TROP CHAUD takes a look behind the scenes of the fight against climate change. The activists and their team of lawyers, legal and scientific companions and an NGO campaigner talk about their motivations. And tell the story that most German-Swiss media have missed in their scope. Fundamental questions about democracy, the rule of law and global climate justice will be discussed. In doing so, TROP CHAUD never loses sight of the fact that the fight against climate change is a complex and difficult task to solve.
