The Schmidt architectural firm from Trun became nationally known for its concept of load-bearing straw bale construction. In this concept, the walls are made of straw bales and one of the tasks to be solved was to take into account the settlement of the straw material and still transfer the load over the walls. With the B-D House in Disentis, Paul Schmidt shows us the first straw house in Switzerland. For over twenty years, the house, built by his father Werner Schmidt, has stood stable in the landscape.
