The town of Sargans has always been shaped by personalities, some of whom left traces beyond the Sarganserland. The second festival of the Sarganserland Open-Air Theatre Association deals with Jakob Albrecht and Johanna Broder.

Jakob Albrecht was a poet, teacher, editor and caricaturist at the "Nebelspalter". Johanna Albrecht, together with her brothers Hans and Adolf, who were also childless, administered the inheritance of the
Broder family. The Broders were the family that received bishops, politicians, bankers, merchants, artists, etc. in the "zum Hirschen" inn at a time when, in the truest sense of the word, all roads led through the town in Sargans. It was the time in the 19th century before the railway connection.

The artistic direction is in the hands of Romy Forlin, who also wrote the script - with the support of historian Mathias Bugg. The Altes Kino Mels is in turn the production partner of these open-air theatres.
