Extreme natural events immediately fill the newspapers, but are quickly forgotten. In the media hype, we are therefore often not really aware of the fact that many serious natural events have occurred in the area of present-day Switzerland in the past. At today's event, we want to explore these events with a renowned expert.

Anyone who looks at the landscape with a geological detective's eye, like Adrian Pfiffner, will find many traces of such events. Landslides, but also earthquakes or floods from past times have been preserved in the landscape of our surroundings and can be read. They form bridges to current questions such as: Can we predict landslides? And earthquakes? Are extreme events linked to climate change?
