The novel "Tschiera/Nebelflüchtige" tells the story of Aita, who moves from Vienna back to the Lower Engadine after the death of her mother and has to sell the family home, which throws her life completely off track. At the same time, her former classmate Luis, who runs the village shop, tries to convince the local population to defend themselves against the development of the luxury real estate market – a lonely battle that almost makes him despair.

"Tschiera/Nebelflüchtige" sheds light on the current social change in the Engadine in a fast-paced, rhythmic language full of fine humour and haunting images and invites us to reflect on identity and community. Flurina Badel's debut novel was awarded the Graubünden Literature Prize 2025.
