Freeride Festival Flims Laax: Lecture Avalanche Dogs – Lifesavers on Duty
Description
How do avalanche search teams work in real emergencies?
Corsin Clopath, head of Piste & Rescue in LAAX, gives you a fascinating insight into the work of an avalanche dog handler together with his avalanche dog Yari. You’ll learn how avalanche dogs are trained, which skills they bring and how human and dog work together as a team. Corsin walks you step by step through a search operation, showing how Yari picks up scent, locates buried victims and why trust, training and clear communication are crucial. This gives you a sense of how precise, fast and responsible this work is – and why avalanche dogs are an essential part of the rescue chain. Join in and experience avalanche rescue up close.
This talk is part of the Freeride Festival Flims Laax – an event that brings together deep powder, creativity and alpine adventure in a unique format. During the first week of March, the freeride community gathers for contests, workshops, a testival and inspiring encounters – on the mountain and in the valley.
