Freeride Festival Flims Laax: Workshop 1AID in Terrain - Friday
Description
In this hands-on workshop of approximately 1.5 hours, you will gain a solid introduction to first aid in alpine winter terrain, specifically tailored to freeriders and ski tourers.
The course is led by Nicolas Büchi from the LAAX Ski Patrol and is based on real-life experience from professional mountain rescue operations.
The focus is on realistic emergency situations that can occur off-piste, as well as on safe and effective action until professional help arrives. Theory and practical exercises are closely combined.
The workshop covers and practices the following topics:
-What belongs in a well-equipped emergency first-aid kit
-How to deal with cut injuries
-Bone fractures: how and with what to properly immobilise them
-Recognising and assessing concussions
-Heat retention and hypothermia
-Cardiac arrest and resuscitation
This workshop is aimed at anyone who spends time in alpine winter terrain and wants to strengthen their ability to act confidently in emergency situations.
The workshop is part of the Freeride Festival Flims Laax – an event that brings together powder riding, creativity and alpine adventure in a unique format. During the first week of March, riders, filmmakers and outdoor enthusiasts come together to celebrate the diversity of freeriding through contests, workshops, a testival, and inspiring encounters both on the mountain and in the valley.
