Der Froschkönig

The pretty, young princess is playing in the castle garden with her golden ball, which suddenly slips out of her fingers and falls into the deep castle fountain. Desperately and bitterly crying for the loss of her favorite toy, a frog appears out of nowhere on the surface of the water. He offers the princess to get the ball out of the well for her, but only if she recognizes him as an equal playmate in return and shares the table and bed with him. The princess agrees. When the frog returns to the surface with the ball, she grabs the ball and runs back into the castle.

The next day there is a knock on the door of the castle; it is the frog who wants to remind the princess of her promise. When the king learns the story of the previous day, he orders his daughter to stand up for her word. Will the princess keep her promise? Will the frog really become a prince?

It's about trust, obligations, friendship, patience, willpower, first love – yes, growing up. "Unfortunately" we all grow up sooner or later, that's the way it is today and always will be. We must learn to stand up for our word and keep our promises, even if it costs us a lot of effort. The princess learns this in this fairy tale and thus turns from a carefree girl into a woman. And the frog? He needs a lot of time, tolerance and determination until he reaches his goal.

Fairy tales do not claim to describe the world as it is. Rather, the fairy tale imagery encourages the theatre audience to create their own images.
