"Die Henkersmahlzeit zu Valendas" in Ilanz

In 2017, the Valendas theatre group performed "The Executioner's Meal at Valendas" by Martin Valär as an open-air play on the village square in Valendas. The play was made into a film and can now be seen at the Cinema Sil Plaz in Ilanz.

About the play: Count Georg von Rhäzüns is accused of high treason against the Ligia grischa as a result of the Schamser War in 1451. The criminal court convened in Valendas sentenced him to death by severing his head. Through a ruse, he and his servant succeed in changing the minds of the people, the judges and also the soldiers with a sumptuous executioner's meal and lots of alcohol. Georg is acquitted. However, Georg and the judges have made the calculation without the landlady.....
