In a world health resort in decline, the legendary grand hotel is destroyed by fire. A clairvoyant heavily incriminates the then hotel director. Despite a large number of traces and suspects, the fire remains unsolved.

But the fire does not let go of the hotel director. With the heart of the health resort, part of his life has also been destroyed and with the accusation of the clairvoyant that the Grand Hotel should have burned because of him, his ideal world has been thrown into disarray. Although he does not believe in fortune-telling, he is firmly convinced that his former employee set fire to him out of revenge.

To the displeasure of his wife Sally, he tries to reopen the case 30 years later with a retired policeman – in the hope that the inspector will find overlooked clues and finally free him from his burden. But this is based on facts and not on interpretations. Thus, in addition to a dubious mountaineer and the ex-employee, the director himself also becomes the focus of the investigation.
