Klassik am Berg "Maja Taube & Jan Galega Brönnimann" in Waltensburg

the Art of the Duo is the new project of the Nuremberg harpist Maja Taube and the Bernese bass clarinettist Jan Galega Brönnimann. They have both won the Cultural Promotion Prize of the District of Middle Franconia and the Canton of Bern.

Here the classically trained harpist Maja Taube meets the bass clarinettist Jan Galega Brönnimann, who is well-known in the jazz, world and electro scene. Their two musical worlds are skilfully mixed and interwoven. The music of the two equal duo partners is characterized by the rhythmically concise, sparkling sounds of the harp and the sometimes smoky, lyrical, then again percussive melody lines of the bass clarinet. The fiery transitions between composition, interpretation and improvisation provide tension and variety. The result is contemporary chamber music.

In August 2024, Maja Taube and Jan Galega Brönnimann took the unique opportunity to play 7 concerts in one week at the Kohlenhof in Nuremberg as part of Metropol Musik's Zikaden Festival. The hall of the small art gallery was full every evening – about 50 visitors each. Many people came to the concert several times. During the day, they were able to rehearse and fine-tune the arrangements, and in the evening the innovations were tried out right away. The music has developed a lot and gained depth as a result. Every concert was recorded. This results in the duo's first CD.
