The church of Pitasch is located on the early medieval Alpine transversal, which led via Pitasch, the Güner Lückli and Splügen to Chiavenna. Built as a Romanesque rectangular hall with a semicircular apse, it shows interesting masonry and wall paintings from the workshop of the Waltensburg master, among others.

Andreas Caviezel was president of the parish and accompanied the restoration of the church from 1976 to 1985, during which the building was restored to its Romanesque state. He therefore knows the church like few others and passes on his knowledge with enthusiasm. As a resident of Pitasch, he is also very familiar with the village and the surrounding area.
