On February 4, 1936, Wilhelm Gustloff, regional group leader of the NSDAP, was shot dead in Davos. The perpetrator is 27-year-old David Frankfurter, who wants to use his crime to draw attention to the intensifying persecution of the Jews. The docudrama meticulously describes the course of the assassination attempt and the subsequent trial.

In 1972, director Rolf Lyssy created a cinematic monument to the Gustloff assassin.
