The cello duo "ensemble le phénix" has once again put together a varied program of music for two cellos, this time with variations from different eras. A variation is a change to a musical theme in terms of its melodic, rhythmic, harmonic and compositional appearance. Repeating musical ideas in a different way is a basic principle of composition and is effective in almost all genres and forms. The form type "theme with variations", which has been documented under many different names since the late 16th century, plays a special role. Countless variations were also written for the instrumentation of two cellos, i.e. the "cello duet", and composers also liked to draw on the musical models of their colleagues... and of course the program also includes Christmas melodies, all set to romantic candlelight - a perfect way to get in the mood for the end of the year!
