After drama school and numerous roles, Ingeborg Lüscher began studying psychology in the mid-1960s. After several journeys and after witnessing the preparations for the Prague Spring in 1967, she then turned to art out of a political and philosophical interest. She moved to Ticino, where she created works such as the Cigarette Paintings (1969–1972). With collected cigarette butts, her preoccupation with fire and later her work with sulphur, she deals with existential themes. In Kunst am Mittag with Svenja Clauss, you can learn more about the "cigarette paintings" and about a self-determined contemporary artist who has created an extensive body of work in over 50 years – from object art to photography and video works.
