Lesung und Gespräch über Max Frisch mit Autor Julian Schütt

The Swiss writer Max Frisch can be rediscovered: Julian Schütt presents his much-acclaimed biography at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and opens up new perspectives on the life and work of one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. In a reading with a conversation, he will give fascinating insights into well-known and lesser-known facets of Max Frisch.

Frisch's world-famous novels Stiller and Homo faber as well as his plays Biedermann und die Brandstifter and Andorra are discussed. His relationship with the poet Ingeborg Bachmann, his friendship with Friedrich Dürrenmatt and the question of why Frisch's thinking and writing are particularly topical today.

In addition to the literary work, the evening is also dedicated to the private Max Frisch - his relationship to pleasure, food and drink as well as fasting. Julian Schütt shows how multi-layered Frisch was as a person and author and why his texts still touch and challenge today.

Julian Schütt, born in 1964, holds a doctorate in literature and cultural journalism. He worked for Swiss Radio and Television SRF and was a member of the critics' panel of the programme Literaturclub. In 1998, he conceived the first major exhibition on Max Frisch, which was shown in several European cities. In 2011, the first volume of his biography Max Frisch – Biography of a Rise was published, followed in 2025 by the second volume Max Frisch – Biography of an Instance. Julian Schütt lives and works in Zurich.
