Live-Podcast: Grosser Rilke-Abend

Rainer Maria Rilke is considered one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. His art was "doing things out of fear," he wrote to his former lover Lou Andreas-Salomé in July 1903. In his new biography, which focuses equally on life and work, Manfred Koch shows Rilke as a highly sensitive echo sounder and the most gender-fluid poet of the emerging modern age.

Manfred Koch, born in Stuttgart in 1955, taught German literary history at the Universities of Giessen, Tübingen and Basel until 2021. He has spent decades dealing with the life and work of Rainer Maria Rilke.

Angelika Overath, born in 1957 in Karlsruhe, is a writer and lecturer in creative writing. She has been awarded the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize for literary reportage, among others. Her most recent novel is "A Winter in Istanbul". She lives in Sent in the Engadine.
