LÓN is the latest project by one of Iceland's best-known artists, Valdimar Guðmundsson, who is best known as the frontman of the six-piece rock band Valdimar. For his new project, he has teamed up with musicians Ásgeir Aðalsteinsson and Ómar Guðjónsson to explore their folk roots in a soulful Americana style. Formed during the lockdown in 2020, the trio found solace in making music together and recording in a cabin on Iceland's largest lake, Þingvallavatn.

Their debut album , Thankfully Distracted , reflects on themes such as aging, parenting, and the passage of time. With a mixture of jazz riffs, folk charm and Valdimar's poignant vocals, LÓN effortlessly creates an atmospheric soundscape. Her introspective lyrics speak of the bittersweet process of getting older - welcoming the new chapters of life while mourning the loss of youth.
