Mola
Description
A Tibetan story of love and loss.
CINEMA | DOCUMENTARY
Kunsang Wangmo, known as "Mola" (grandmother), has been away from home for almost 60 years. Mola, a Buddhist nun who has been exiled from her native Tibet since 1959, has the last wish to return to Tibet and die near her paradisiacal homeland. Her 100th birthday is just around the corner, and time is running out. In Bern, Mola prays and meditates daily and at the same time remains an important part of her close-knit family. To comply with their wishes, Mola's family begins the arduous process of applying for a visa at the Chinese embassy, which could take months. While life in their household goes on as usual, the family begins to document their possibly last days with Mola.
