Event Engadin St. Moritz
Museum Engadinais - Opening of the special exhibition «Move on – into the wood»
Description
Artist Michael Günzburger makes traces visible: at the Museum Engiadinais, the marks of use on historical objects become material for striking prints, bridging the gap between history and contemporary art.
With the two-part exhibition "PULL ON," Zurich-based artist Michael Günzburger gives the Engadine Museum another visual voice. Together with his assistant Zita Fahrländer and in collaboration with the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), they activate the museum's collection for new artistic production. The exhibition guides the viewer's gaze with natural structures, ornaments, and intricate carvings. These serve as a starting point for current printmaking and research. In the first part of the exhibition, "PULL ON – IN A CIRCLE," the main protagonists are the museum's rosettes and knotholes. They are like eyes observing us. Prints with digitally processed images of surfaces and laser-engraved paper create an intense sequence of views within the building. In the second part, "PULL ON – INTO WOOD," the focus for the winter season, beginning December 6, is on new, specially developed casting techniques. This gives a new voice to the museum's objects, which have been used for centuries.
