Neujahrskonzert – Jauchzet und jubelt

A varied and colourful evening with works by George Frideric Handel, Louis Claude Daquin, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach and Petronio Franceschini. Majestic splendour lies over the first church concert of Klosters Music in the new year – and not only because it begins with the festive "Entry of the Queen of Sheba" from George Frideric Handel's oratorio "Solomon" for two trumpets and organ. With the young, highly talented Swiss violinist Ilva Eigus, the programme takes on a special colour. In Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in B flat major, her noble, warm violin tone combines with the radiant trumpet sound of Immanuel Richter to create a fascinating dialogue of splendour and grace. Another highlight is the Swedish soprano Jennifer Högström, who with her clear, luminous voice and fine sense of style creates Vivaldi's "Domine Deus" with intimate expression. In Johann Sebastian Bach's brilliant solo cantata "Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen" she ignites a veritable coloratura firework together with Immanuel Richter and Kay Johannsen. The organ also gets its special moment in the programme: in two "Noëls" by Louis Claude Daquin, selected and interpreted by Kay Johannsen, Christmas resonates in playful elegance and delicate colours. In addition to the Zurich trumpet professor Immanuel Richter, the exceptional 17-year-old Engadine talent Simon Gabriel can also be experienced - together they create the festive trumpet works of this varied and colourful evening.
