RENTAL FAMILY tells the story of a Tokyo-based US actor (Oscar® winner Brendan Fraser) who is looking for meaning in his life until he manages to land an unusual job. For a Japanese "Rental Family" agency, he slips into different roles and plays the son, husband or father as a family member.

As he immerses himself more and more in the worlds of his clients and helps them fill in their family gaps, he begins to build real bonds that blur the lines between acting and reality. In dealing with the moral aspects of his new job, he rediscovers the meaning of life, the feeling of togetherness and the beauty of interpersonal relationships.
