Roofman is based on the true story of Jeffrey Manchester. The eccentric serial robber robbed more than 60 branches of a fast food chain. After being caught and sentenced to 45 years in prison, he broke out of prison and hid for months in a Toys-'R-Us store in North Carolina. There he played a bizarre game of hide-and-seek, fed on baby food and kept fit by riding a children's bike through the store. Ultimately, he was caught after allegedly leaving his fingerprints on a Catch Me If You Can DVD. The film focuses on this wild escape story.
