When the slopes of Valso have the greatest snow cover, the locals organize the traditional sledge race. An event that was once a celebration for single people and is now at least a centuries-old custom. "It is the joy and the urge of the youth for a festive experience that conjure up the Schlitrada every year like a colorful, vibrant flower from the harsh enamel of the Engadine winter," is how the NZZ described the festival in 1951. "I've been there for at least 40 years," recalls Georg Janett from Tschlin. He and the Bun Tschlin association are happy to maintain this tradition.

This year, the Valsoter Schlitrada will take place on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Nowadays, participants are not just single people, but everyone.
The meeting point is just before 7 pm below Tschlin - and after registering, you can set off on the sledge ride to Strada.
Where a dumpling festival and prize-giving awaits the participants and rounds off the event.

The route
The start is at the stable of Andri Caviezel and Ernst Meier, below Tschlin.After approx. 300 m, the toboggan run makes a sharp right turn and leads partly into the forest and partly past the edge of the forest. After 500 m in a south-westerly direction, the path bends to the left. This is followed shortly afterwards by four smaller bends in open terrain. Slowly but surely you reach the end of the path, which is located in front of the bus stop Strada i. E., Cuncalada. Be careful at high speed, the bends are narrow.

Meeting point: Below Tschlin at 7 pm
