Urs Schocher; The Müller family in Filisur – In the footsteps of an extended family

At the beginning of the 20th century, a certain Abraham Müller founded an extended family in Filisur. With his 14 living children, the family at times made up almost 5% of the entire population of Filisur.
In this lecture, we trace the traces of the family: Where did it originally come from, how did it get to Filisur and what became of the numerous descendants? Anecdotes from the family history and oral traditions are also told.
The speaker would also like to show what it meant to live in the rear Albula Valley at that time. What was everyday life like, under what conditions did such a large family live and what opportunities did that time offer the children?
At the same time, the history of the Müller family is a vivid example of what genealogical research can mean when dealing with a family name that is now number 1 among the most common surnames in Switzerland.
