On board the container ship Panerai, the young sailor Rudmer dreams of one day becoming a captain himself. Shot over a period of four years, the film offers a rare glimpse into the hard life on a cargo ship on the Rhine and at the same time draws an intimate portrait of growing up between Europe's industrial ports.
