«Wiener Winterwalzer» – Neujahrskonzert

The music of no other composer has such strong connotations with the turn of the year as the swinging waltzes, polkas and quadrilles of Johann Strauss (son), who was born in Vienna in 1825. Gilles Apap, the French violin virtuoso, who simply does not fit into a pigeonhole, but always moves stylishly and full of curiosity between jazz, folklore and classical music, provides the more "unconventional" festive sounds. His specially composed cadenza for Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto is a unique experience, and the stirring folk music works from Apap's repertoire offer an even deeper insight into his fascinating, creative work.
