Description

Day 1: The first part of the hike we are on the way with the hikers who strive for the Tomasee and the Maighelshütte. On the way in Val Maighels we enjoy numerous natural beauties. In Plidutscha the Rhine splashes as a small stream to the valley, in the lakes Lai Urlaun and Lai Carin the mountains are reflected, meandering watercourses are decorated with flowers and woolly grass and at the Piogn Crap we dare a single step over the Rein da Maighels, which squeezes through a narrow crevice in the rock. On the Grava plain we expand the large stone mandli colony with another specimen.  In front of the Passo Bornengo, the vegetation is becoming increasingly sparse. Until well into July, Firn lies on the slopes and small, turquoise lakes form in the hollows.  Instead of descending to Pian Bornengo, we choose the new route over the stony and partly exposed ridge, eastwards to the point 2872. Steps or places with ropes make it easier to get ahead. But we have to keep helping us. At the top small lake below the crete we meet again on trail tracks that lead down to capanna Cadlimo.

Day 2: Up to the mountain station of the Ritom funicular, five lakes line our path, one more beautiful than the other. The Lago di dentro is still close to the hut, further south we walk along the Lago Scuro, then follow the Laghetti di Tanedo, then the Lago di Tom, with its legendary sandy beach and last the reservoir Lago Ritom. The funicular, one of the steepest in Europe, takes us down to the Leventina.
