Description

The starting point of the winter hiking trail is Davos Frauenkirch railway station, which can be reached in a couple of minutes from Davos Platz. The trail passes the homely Gasthof Landhuus and a few metres further on branches to the right towards Lengmatta. From here, it rises gently along the Lengmattastrasse passing beautiful Walser houses. When the Walsers came from the distant canton of Valais to settle in the Landwasser valley, they brought their own language and architectural style with them.  The winter hiking route continues for another 10 minutes or so to a crossroads where it branches to the right along the Chummastrasse. The trail now follows the rushing Chummerbach stream, passing through a small wood to the small hamlet of Hitzenboden with wonderful views across the Landwasser Valley. Several hundred metres further downhill, you will come to a junction at which the trail continues downhill towards Davos Glaris.
