Start ist in Ilanz, wer möchte in der wunderschönen Altstadt

The SwitzerlandMobility route, which will be newly signposted in 2025, leads from Ilanz to the quiet Val da Siat. The trails are easy to ride and the mountain landscapes are impressive. On hot summer days, the climb to Siat can be quite challenging, but further up a cool breeze often provides refreshment.

Description

The tour starts comfortably in Ilanz and takes you via Schnaus and Rueun in the direction of Gula. The gravel roads invite you to drive and look around. Only a short climb on a trail near Gula will make you sweat a bit, then it's quieter again.

From Rueun you climb up the village road to the small village of Siat. Perhaps one of the most beautiful villages in the Surselva... Who knows? Above the village you will find a fountain with fresh spring water, perfect for strengthening yourself for the last 250 meters of altitude.

Once at the top, cross a small wooden bridge over the "Ual da Mulin" stream. It's worth taking a short break here: put your feet in the water, straighten your helmet, and then it's off to the descent.

The trail starts easy and gets narrower in places, then wider again. Trail and gravel sections alternate again and again. The scenic highlight awaits above Ruschein: Coming out of the forest, the view opens up over half of the Surselva, a real wow moment.

Shortly below Ruschein, the route continues on mostly smooth trails to Tischinas. From there you drive back to Ilanz on well-known gravel paths.

Hidden Gem

If you continue to follow the hiking trail at Tischinas, you should drive particularly carefully. Pedestrians and horses are to be expected on this section.

Safety Note

In case of uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the tour, you should turn back in time.
