Details
Description
From Pany, the post bus passes the Pany ski lift to the Riedwies stop. Here begins the snowshoe trail with gentle ascents over frost-covered meadows and through light forest sections. Past cozy alpine huts, you reach the idyllic Maiensäss settlement of Tratza. At the mountain inn, enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the Prättigau.
Afterwards, the trail ascends again to 1730 m above sea level, the highest point of the tour at Calondis. From here, it alternates between open areas and forest sections until reaching Bova at the Bodahütte. The cozy parlor and terrace alone are worth a visit. Here, the trail turns.
Leisurely, it goes down across open Maiensäss terrain to the Tüfelstein. Then gently downhill to the endpoint at the Pany ski lift.
Hidden Gem
Warming up is possible at the Restaurant Güggelstein (at the parking lot/valley station) or at Nini's Puurästübli in Riedwies.
Refresh yourself before the final ascent at the Tratza-Beizli (Friday - Monday, 10:00 - 16:00, approx. until mid-March) before heading to the highest point of the route, Calondis. The path continues via Carals, Säss to the Bodahütte (open Saturdays and Sundays from Christmas until mid-March), where you can warm up and refresh yourself before the descent.
The Pany snowshoe trails have various intersections where routes can be extended, combined, or shortened. Please observe the signposts; pocket maps are available at the start to take with you.
Forest sections and mixed terrain: Please stay on the marked trail to avoid unnecessary disturbance to nature and wildlife. Near the village, the trails mostly run on private land. Please also stay on the marked route here.
Safety Note
The marked snowshoe trails of Pany and St. Antönien lead into unsecured, partly alpine winter terrain. It is up to each tour guest to fully equip themselves and to inform themselves about snow and avalanche conditions before the tour. Also observe the safety instructions in the pocket map to the snowshoe trails and on the central info boards in Pany and St. Antönien.
The time indication is a guideline under good conditions for reasonably experienced tour guests. Time indications for snowshoe tours can vary greatly depending on conditions, equipment, and fitness. Plan enough time and start early for the planned tour!
This tour description and the markings on the ground do not constitute a tour recommendation. Every decision to enter lies solely with the individual tour participant. It is strongly advised against undertaking a tour in poor visibility conditions (fog, snowfall, etc.) or with increased avalanche danger. Caution regarding spring conditions: from about March and generally on warm and/or very sunny days, tours should definitely be ended early.
Equipment
Well-functioning snowshoes, poles with winter baskets, good footwear, and winter-appropriate clothing. The wind can significantly lower the perceived temperature in winter: do not forget winter gloves, hat, thermos flask, etc.!
Carrying a complete winter touring equipment including an avalanche transceiver is recommended on the marked snowshoe trails of Pany and St. Antönien as well as generally on all tours in open alpine terrain.

Directions
From the ski lift parking lot, take the snowshoe bus to Riedwies, where you can refresh yourself at Nini's Puurästübli (self-service). From Riedwies, the trail crosses the track several times until you almost reach the highest point Tratza. Through splendid forest sections, the route steadily climbs higher. At the beautifully situated Maiensässdörfchen 'Tratza', you cross the upper end of the toboggan run. Refresh yourself at the Tratzabeizli (Friday - Monday, 10:00 - 16:00, open until mid-March approx.) before you tackle the ascent to the highest point. Wonderful view over the Vorder Prättigau! Now follow a stretch of the groomed winter hiking trail first through the forest, then gently downhill below the hiking path, until the path branches off again to Carals. At the junction, you can choose the shortcut to Ronggaletz (No. 12) or continue via Carals to Boden to the Bodahütte (open Saturdays and Sundays from Christmas until Easter). Then return leisurely across the open Maiensäss area to the Tüfelstein (another branching point) and finally slightly downhill and across the Chlus back to the starting point.
