Description
Follow the path running parallel with the road for approx. 5 minutes before branching off at Restaurant Schmelzboden and following the trail into the Zügen Gorge. The Graubünden Mining Museum is located here, featuring lots of interesting facts & figures about the history of mining in the area as well as a collection of rocks and minerals.
The Davos Monstein Station is also an alternative starting point for the hike. From here the hike through the Zügen Gorge to Davos Wiesen Station takes approx. 1.5 hours. The hike is both a mobility path and a geology trail, offering you the possibility of calling up lots of information on your mobile phone.
There’s so much to see in the Zügen Gorge. It was once the route taken by coaches travelling to Davos, and there are a number of information panels recalling that period. Today a level gravel path takes you through tunnels and across bridges and the crystal-clear flowing waters of the Landwasser mountain river. Every half hour you can watch the Rhaetian Railway as it winds its way through the rocky valley.
