Description
The ruins of Gräpplang Castle sit enthroned on a hill to the west of the starting point in Flums. The route leads past the ruins and along a little-used side road via the hamlet of Fäsch to Bergheim. Now follow the mountain road to Tannenheim before finally turning left to Cafrida. You have already reached the well-known Flumserberg skiing and hiking area.
At Cafrida, follow the nature trail, which later joins the mountain road to Prodalp. The Prodalp plateau with its beautiful high moor offers a magnificent view of the Sarganserland and the Churfirsten peaks. The mountain restaurant has a large sun terrace and is the ideal place to take a break before continuing along the forest road to Panüöl.
In Panüöl, an impressive mountain panorama opens up and the ride on to Alp Fursch is a real treat. The subsequent downhill through the Furschwald forest is particularly challenging in wet conditions. The route continues along the Schilsbach stream, which is crossed at Bildbrugg. A flowing forest trail takes you to Portels and shortly afterwards you reach Flums again.
